Tignes is a group of 5 villages forming a high-altitude ski resort. It is located in the French Alps, close to the Italian border. Along with nearby Val d'Isère, it is part of the Espace Killy ski area, with its own network of lifts. The villages of Val Claret and Tignes Le Lac are the lively centers of the resort, with restaurants and stores. In summer, there are trails, golf courses and a bike park, as well as downhill skiing on the Grande Motte glacier.
